Caring Hands Soup Kitchen
The Caring Hands Soup Kitchen and Pantry serves breakfast (7:30 am - 9:00 am) and lunch (12 noon to 1:00 pm) to the community Monday through Friday all year long. We are a non-profit organization with a volunteer staff. We serve an average of over 100 meals per day, and our pantry gives out over fifty boxes of food per week. Agency of The Year 2013, we are members of the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.
We believe God's love is transforming. and we strive to give folks the help they need to help themselves.
With the help of BOCES, we offer a GED class on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (12:30 pm - 3:30 pm). Just stop in after lunch on any of those days to join the class! It's that easy.
On Friday, we offer a free legal clinic after lunch. And because we believe in God's healing grace and liberation, we offer Narcotics Anonymous meetings
several evenings a week.
Our Community Garden is located on Liberty Street. We reclaimed a garbage filled lot and transformed it into something wonderful. Stop by and take a look.
You may even be inspired to do a little weeding!
This year we are working with the Kingston City Schools to help feed the Title 1 and homeless children in our community. Several nights a week, we help host a family dinner, and we prepare meals delivered weekly to children living in temporary housing.
Our pantry is always in demand. We are open weekdays at lunch (11:30 am - 12:30 pm).
We also sponsor Senior Food Drops in the Govenor Clinton and Yosman Towers.
The Old Dutch Church sponsors an evening pantry on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
